This game, a sequel to the 1995 fighter Killer Instinct, featured the series' trademark rendered characters, including returning favorites like Sabrewulf (the hulking werewolf) and Orchid (the scantily-clad female agent), and featured three new characters: Tusk (a muscular barbarian), Kim Wu (a young female ninja), and Maya (an icy blonde Amazon).

The Killer Instinct 2 arcade board featured a Seagate hard drive, which allowed the game to display full motion video screens.
