The modern sequel to Atari's medieval fantasy hit, now in 3D.

3D graphics are just one of the enhancements for Gauntlet's third go-round in the arcades. Gameplay features more of an RPG flair--there's an actual linear quest to conquer, and progress can be saved via passwords. Characters' experience points go up as the game progresses, and players can boost their health/magic power by trading in gold.

Players explore four worlds with five levels each; defeat the level boss to earn a key, and collect all keys to battle the game's final boss. But to beat him, you'll also need to find the 13 Rune Stones hidden in the game. The Elf has been retitled the Archer, but any of the four human players can choose to play as any of the four characters, as in Gauntlet II.
